THE RAILWAY CHILDREN by LUCIA PERELLO

Roberta, Phyllis, and Peter are living idyllic lives with their parents in what is described as an ordinary red-brick fronted villa.

The children are loved a lot by their parents because they play with them, when they are at school her mother writes stories and reads them to them when they finish. One day, one man comes to visit their father and she goes with them. The mother is angry and tells the children not to ask any questions.

Then they have to travel to another country because of their work. The mother asks lots of work because she has to write children stories. The children are worried because the situation has changed. The children decide to explore the railway. One day when Peter goes with Roberta, Phyllis follows.

They discovered a new mine of coal. Then the children go to tell a person Peter was stealing. But she thinks that she wasn’t stealing because he only was taking some coal of the mine.

At the end of the story Roberta discovered that her father was arrested, then she tells her mum and her friend with the intention that then she will help her.
